PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

NEDRA presents a full day of instruction in the essentials of prospect research. This training is a must for those new to research, or those who have had research added to their roles. No experience in the field is necessary to begin learning how to apply professional research methodologies. This full day of learning will cover such subjects as:

* Internet Research Fundamentals

* Finding and Valuing Real Estate

* Interpreting Public Company Regulatory Filings

* Reading Foundation 990s

* Valuing Private Companies

* Prospect Interests and Networks

* Assessing Gift Capacity

* Presenting Research


PRESENTER BIOS:


Dave Owens is a Senior Prospect Researcher at the Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, where he also began his development career as a Prospect Researcher in 2001.  Prior to his tenure at Boston Children’s Hospital, he worked in clinical administration at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in the departments of Pulmonary Care and Oncology.  He received his M.A. degree in Political Science from Northeastern University, a B.A. degree in Philosophy and Public Policy from UMass/Boston, as well as an A.A. degree in Mathematics/Science from Cape Cod Community College.  Dave is currently a member of the NEDRA Programming Committee, and previously served on NEDRA’s Conference Committee in 2014.


Matt Lacroix is a Senior Prospect Researcher at Boston Children’s Hospital Trust (BCHT), a position he has held since October 2014. Prior to joining BCHT, Matt held prospect research positions with Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, the Peabody Essex Museum, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He received a B.A. in English and American Literature and Language from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and holds an M.A. in English Literature from Harvard Extension School. He generally has at least one form of Incredible Hulk paraphernalia on his person at all times.


Tim Enman has been a prospect researcher since 2007. Prior to joining the development team at Smith College in 2013, he was a prospect researcher with Clark University in Worcester, MA. Before beginning his career in development, he worked with Sentient Jet in South Weymouth, MA, arranging private air travel for high-net-worth clients. He holds a B.A. from Concordia University in Montreal, QC. Tim serves as a NEDRA Board Member and is Co-Chair of the Programming Committee.


DIRECTIONS:


Directions 234 Church Street, New Haven, CT


From I-95 North or South

1. Take 95 to New Haven and follow signs to I-91 North. Take Trumbull Street (Exit 3)

2. Stay in the left lane and at the end of the exit turn Left at the light.

3. Take Right at next light onto Grove Street (stay in right lane)

4. Go almost to the next light and enter Grove Street Garage on the Right.

5. When exiting the garage on Grove, turn Right and walk to corner. At the light you will

want to cross over Church to the corner diagonally across from where you are. There’s a

Willoughby’s at that corner.

6. Walk down Church (Willoughby’s on your Right) to Wall Street.

7. You will see a Chase Manhattan Bank blue sign ahead. This is 234 Church Street.

8. The elevators in the lobby are to your left. Go to the 8 th Floor. You may be asked to sign

in at the guard desk.

9. The Yale Phone Program office is straight ahead.


From I-91 South

1. Take Exit 4 (State Street)

2. Turn Right off the exit and Left at the first light onto State Street

3. Follow State Street about ½ mile going under highway overpass

4. Turn Right onto Grove Street at light

5. Stay in left lane and go straight through the next light (Orange Street) merging into right

lane

6. Go almost to the next light and enter Grove Street Garage on the Right.

7. When exiting the garage on Grove, turn Right and walk to corner. At the light you will

want to cross over Church to the corner diagonally across from where you are. There’s a

Willoughby’s at that corner.

8. Walk down Church (Willoughby’s on your Right) to Wall Street.

From MetroNorth (Union Station)

Take taxi to 234 Church Street.


From Shoreline

Take the Shoreline East to State Street if you don’t mind a walk. Or stay on train to Union Station and take a taxi.
