DESCRIPTION


Research Basics Bootcamp is a full day of instruction in the essentials of prospect research. This training is a must for those new to research or those who have had research added to their roles. No experience in the field is necessary to begin learning how to apply professional research methodologies.This full day of learning will cover such subjects as:

FACULTY


Dave Owens is a Senior Prospect Researcher at the Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, where he also began his development career as a Prospect Researcher in 2001.  Prior to his tenure at Boston Children’s Hospital, he worked in clinical administration at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in the departments of Pulmonary Care and Oncology.  He received his M.A. degree in Political Science from Northeastern University, a B.A. degree in Philosophy and Public Policy from UMass/Boston, as well as an A.A. degree in Mathematics/Science from Cape Cod Community College.  Dave is currently a member of the NEDRA 2018 Conference Committee, and previously served on NEDRA’s Programming Committee from 2014 to 2017.


Mary Taddia is a Research Associate at the Helen Brown Group. She previously served as Prospect Research Manager and as Coordinator of Prospect Research at the University of New England in Maine. Her career in development began in 1995, where she worked as an assistant at The St. Paul Foundation. She has also worked at MIT and the Maine Alzheimer’s Association. Mary is currently a member of NEDRA’s Heather Reisz Memorial Scholarship Committee. She served on NEDRA’s Board of Directors from 2013-2016. During her tenure on the board, Mary was chair of the Heather Reisz Memorial Scholarship Committee, chair of the Annual Conference Scholarship Committee, and co-chair of the Sponsorship Committee. She and her family live in Portland, Maine.

DIRECTIONS


From the North (via the Maine Turnpike):

Take Exit 14, then I-295 to Exit 28 Route 1 North.

 

From the South (via I-295):

Take the Maine Turnpike to Exit 52 (formerly Exit 9; 295 to Coastal Route 1). Continue on 295 to Exit 28 Route 1 North: Coastal Route, Brunswick/Bath).


To reach the Main Campus:

From I-295, take Route 1 North/Pleasant Street. Proceed to the third traffic light. Go straight ("To 201/123/24/Maine Street"). Continue straight for approximately 1/2 mile to the second traffic light. Turn right on Maine Street. Continue on Maine Street for approximately 1/2 mile. The Bowdoin campus begins at the intersection of Maine Street and Bath Road, near a large UCC Church.



PARKING


Parking is available on Federal Street or behind 85 Federal Street off of Bath Road.



BUS


Greyhound/Vermont Transit from Brunswick:

Offers daily trips to and from Brunswick, Maine. Schedules and rates are available from the office at 206 Maine Street, Brunswick (1-800-537-3330). Buses stop at the 7-11 store on the corner of Maine and Elm streets, two blocks from campus. Limited service may be available from Bowdoin College. Call 1-800-231-2222 for more information.


Concord Coach Lines from Bath and Brunswick:

When classes are in session, Concord Coach Lines makes a stop at Bowdoin College on Sills Road, by Druckenmiller Hall. Concord Coach Lines tickets may be purchased at the Mobil Mart/Puffin Stop (101 Bath Road, Route 24). You may also get on the bus at the College and purchase your ticket en route.
