NEDRA presents a full day of instruction in the essentials of prospect research. This training is a must for those new to research, or those who have had research added to their roles. No experience in the field is necessary to begin learning how to apply professional research methodologies. This full day of learning will cover such subjects as:


  • The Strategic Role of Advancement Research
  • Prospect Research Fundamentals
  • The Ethical Researcher
  • Advancement Research Sources and Methodology
  • Assessing Gift Capacity
  • Presenting Research

NOTE: Morning light refreshments, lunch, and afternoon snacks will all be served.


Faculty:


Roslyn Clarke is an assistant director of research at Harvard University’s Office of Alumni Affairs and Development. She is responsible for education and training for development research and specializes in the financial industry. Roslyn also leads research efforts for the principal gifts team and New York fundraising region while working to educate gift officers on wealth and philanthropic trends. Including positions at Brown University and Hebrew SeniorLife, Roslyn has ten years of prospect research experience.

Amy Begg is the deputy director of research at Harvard University's Office of Alumni Affairs and Development. She is also a prospect research consultant providing services to more than thirty non-profit organizations, including schools, museums, civic and youth organizations, hospitals and religious organizations in Boston, New York and Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the Harvard University research department, Amy was the director of research at the YMCA of Greater New York in Midtown Manhattan. She is a member of the New England Development Researchers Association board of directors.

Driving Directions:

 

From the North (via Route I-93 or Route 1:

Take the Storrow Drive exit, and proceed to the Fenway exit. Follow signs for Boylston Street inbound, and bear right onto Westland Ave. Turn right onto Massachusetts Avenue, proceed to the third traffic light, and turn right onto Columbus Avenue. The Renaissance Parking Garage is at 835 Columbus Ave.

 

From the West (via Route I-90, Mass Turnpike):

Take Exit 22 (copley Square), and bear right. Proceed to the first traffic light, and turn right onto Dartmouth Street. Take the next right onto Columbus Avenue. The Renaissance Parking Garage is at 835 Columbus Ave.


From the West (via Route 9):

Proceed east on Route 9; it will become Huntington Avenue. Turn right onto Ruggles Street. At the fourth traffic light, turn left onto Tremont Street. At the second set of lights, turn left onto Melnea Cass Boulevard, and then turn left onto Columbus Avenue. The Renaissance Parking Garage is at 835 Columbus Ave.


From the South (via I-93, Route 3):

Take Exit 18 (Massachusetts Avenue/Roxbury/Frontage Road). Turn left at the third light, staying in one of the two left lanes. Proceed straight onto Melnea Cass Boulevard. Continue for approximately two miles and turn left onto Columbus Avenue. The Renaissance Parking Garage is at 835 Columbus Ave.
