Think Tank: Prospecting Beyond a Constituent Base

Thursday, November 30, 2023

1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Cultural and cause-based nonprofit organizations don’t have “built-in” constituencies that are typically the focus of prospect identification efforts at other nonprofits: the alumni and parent base for education or grateful patient programs for health care.  So how do we find new prospects that are likely to become engaged with and provide support for our organizations?  Join us for a facilitated conversation to share approaches to identifying the best prospects for our organizations.  Topics will include screenings, peer connections, interest-based prospecting, and making our findings actionable for fundraisers.  We look forward to discussing our successes and challenges and hearing about yours!

FACILITATORS:

Mette Arnmark

Senior Prospect Research Officer, Oxfam

Mette is the Senior Prospect Research Officer at Oxfam (based in Boston), where she has worked in various capacities since 2005.  She has covered many roles from Capital Campaign administration, to Leadership Council event planning, research, and more.  Currently, Mette leads on Pipeline Development and Moves Management within the individual giving team.  She is also a big advocate of Swedish Fika at work- a quick coffee/tea break with friends or colleagues that often encourages collaboration and idea-sharing, and increases productivity.

Mary Mulrenin

Mary has served as the Director of Research & Data Analytics at the Museum of Science in Boston since 2020.  She oversees prospect research, prospect management, reporting, and CRM management.  Prior to joining the Museum, she served as Director of Research and Prospect Management at Stevens Institute of Technology for eight years contributing to the completion of a $250 million campaign.  She also managed the research department at Cancer Care in Manhattan for a year and a half and served as senior prospect researcher at Northeastern University in Boston for eight years.  Mary lives in New Jersey with her husband and three children and works remotely for the Museum.
